Brio Internal Medicine announced Oct. 28 in an email to their patients that it and its Tribe513 affiliates, which includes Parkside Pediatrics, Parkside OB-GYN and the Breastfeeding Center at Parkside, have entered into an official partnership with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health.

While the medical organizations are partnering, Brio will remain independent and not owned by MUSC.

Brio issued the following statement: “In many ways, we remain the same. You will come to the same location, encounter the same smiling faces, see the same providers, and be treated with the same loving and serving attitude you are used to today. Where you will start to see some changes is in our branding, as we begin to include the tagline ‘with MUSC Health’ as a supporting brand alongside our own. You will see this reflected in our facility signage, websites, social media and billing statements.”

According to the email, the partnership will allow Brio and its affiliates to do the following:

• Preserve and strengthen its independence and potentially grow more private practices
• Provide financial security and stability as Brio hires and retains providers and team members
• Offer recruiting and teaching opportunities by providing a pipeline for young providers to train and stay in the Upstate
